LR32 with non-Festool Router

The 20-watt light bulb went off in my head the other day.  I have been using my OF1400 router with the LR32 system for several years now and love it.  But, when my OF1400 bites the dust, there is no way on I'll pay $600 for another one.  That gave me the idea, has anyone attached another plunge router to the base plate?  For less than half the cost, I can attach a Bosch, etc router to the plate.  Just a thought.

Yes. Just had to drill new mounting holes and fit with a centering mandrel.

I recently set one up with the Dewalt mini plunge router that you can get from Home Depot. The set was about $170. Ended up centering it by eyeball and it works just fine (if all holes are off by the same 1/32 then who cares).

Great idea, you can just leave the cheap a## router fixed on the LR32 plate and use the OF's for other applications

Guys...what type of drill bit did you use to drill into the LR32 "base"?  I have a Bosch 1617 and I know other people shaved off part of the base, which I am willing to do, but not sure I have the right tools.  I'm now reconsidering the option of making my own base to use on the LR32 ruler.

For a smaller router, I would make a new subbase that you could just screw onto the LR32 base.  That would be really cool for shelf pin holes.  But for 20mm holes, I really want to use my full sized router.

I think I used the sanding drum bit, rubber wheel and sandpaper on a tube. I ran it slowly and took off as little as I could. It worked fine.
