It is a shame that this sander was discontinued. I always liked using mine, except it is a noisy beast.

There are a lot of tools that i feel Festool is remiss at obsoleting. The DX 93 is one that comes to mind. The small form factor is great and it's light and manueravable. Its substitute, the RO 90, while generally great, is large, heavy and just not so much.

How about the RAS...

How about the MFS...

How about the Vac SYS...

Agree 100%...and CMS too and RS2E...I have and enjoy using all of them.

The RS2E, the first quality sander  bought roughly 40 years ago, and is such a sensational tool! I would recommend to everyone if you ever see one on sale, grab it, you won't regret it!

The other tool I've used and abused over the decades, and is a rock solid powerhouse is the HL850 planer! Love it, recently bought a spiral head for it and love it even more now!

The tools probably did not sell well, but in my case I use the sander a lot and the LS130 more than enough to need it. I think Festool has way too many products and accessories and this type of action is inevitable. They are not Milwaukee or Dewalt level in terms of quantity.

I have two DX  93s.  Agree with your assessment , while it's a bit noisy of a tool, it gets into tighter spaces for me than my Ro 90. And the lightness is also a bonus.. [thumbs up]

I was looking at getting a DX-93 when the RO-90 came out so I didn't pursue it further. I didn't realize it was that much smaller.

When the RAS got discontinued, a few came up on recon. They disappeared so quickly. I have one, but I love it for shaping and considered getting a second. Could likely sell it on secondary for the same recon price if I had changed my mind.

I lived on the Vac-Sys recently: 39 drawers/trays for my kitchen got run through it. I need to get un-lazy about my 3D printer and print the bottom portion of a Vac-Sys head so I can make custom-size heads. Have had a need for that a few times.
