Still looking to find a LS130, however since these are now discontinued, does any other manufacturer have a linear sander?

Thanks

Autobody shops have used linear sanders for a very long time.  I have not seen any accessories for them and I’ve only seen the pneumatic versions.  A google search might turn up some options.

Eastwood carries the Ingersoll-Rand version.  I have heard nothing about these good or bad.

It turns out that there are many electric versions.  But what to do about contoured accessories?

Thanks,
Yeah looking for something that can do larger surfaces and profiles.  I can use my hands but that’s the point of the mechanical device, to ease the burden😊

Yeah, but look how much you will feel like a craftsman.

I actually enjoy final hand sanding.  I do most of the sanding with a random orbital sander, but I always finish by hand sanding.  It makes me feel like a craftsman.

I would note that I have a thick foam pad that fits between my orbital sander and the sandpaper.  It allows for significant amounts of contour following.

Also, my sander ranges from aggressive removal (“1”) to Patriot Missile level of removal (“5”).  The foam has eliminated the occasional divots caused by an inattentive “craftsman”.

The down side is that I find it harder to align the holes for dust removal with the foam pad in place.  It would accommodate about 75% of any bannister.

There are 2” and 3” random orbital sanders which would probably handle most of the balance.  There are plenty of options out there on 2” & 3”, but I have only seen pneumatic versions.

Amazon.com has about 30 listed.

Hello,

I am selling my like new LS130.  If you are interested, please send me an email : brianelivingstone@gmail.com

I am located in Canada; however, I don’t believe shipping should be an issue.

Thanks.

They show up on Recon every few weeks. Also ebay, but I think I got mine from Recon.

Yes, I just got a new one through recon a few weeks ago. You have to be quick though!

As with the BS105 belt sander,  I really don't get why Festool discontinued this sander, it's such a brilliant and unique product.

[mad] [mad] [mad] I just wish they'd offered the BS 105 for the States...such a great piece of equipment. If they had offered that in 110 V in Europe, I'd have imported that in a heart beat. It's just too good...
I have the LS 130 and while I don't need it often, I'd still never unload it. The alternatives are not very exciting.

i just ran a search on mr. google and found 4 different suppliers in USA who have this model in stock

Let me clarify on my search.  I have found results, however when you go there it’s not in stock or back ordered.  Others chase claimed they are in stock but when you purchase it’s back ordered and there are some that seem a little sketchy.  Eg do not have online purchases.  Not expecting Apple pay, though it would be nice.

May take another sweep.

Yup!
I picked mine up used locally. I've seen other ones on FB marketplace from time to time. Just have to keep your eyes out.
