I loved Gary Katz' video from a while back that demonstrated the Bessey Auto Adjust Toggle Clamps.  See around the 17:00 minute mark for what Gary came up with to affix the clamps to his MFT.

And I myself had tried setting them up for use on my MFT like Gary did, but I still was not crazy about having to screw them down from under the table and had somewhat given up on finding an easier and quicker solution.  But now Lee Valley has come out with one for me.

Just thought others may want to get a set of these...or two....or three.....hehehehe!!!  [big grin]

I saw that but wondered if it would work with 20mm holes versus the 3/4 it was designed for.

If anyone purchases one, please provide feedback / photos

I'll be going into LV soon, and will try them out on their MFT they have on display and report back.  I'm thinking they will be fine.  My Festool stuff works on my old B&D WorkMate no probs and I would think that LV who carries Festool in Canada would ensure they are compatible in the MFT holes in designing/making such a product inhouse.  But who knows, maybe I'm wrong.  We'll see sometime soon.

Per LV the upwards pressure of the clamping action "cants" the post and the "barb shaped ridges" bite into the edges of the hole ever so slightly. Makes me wonder if, over time, this would distort the MFT holes to the point they were not a precise fit for precision dogs?

Hi -

Just a quick note that we will (soon) have a version of this product specifically designed for use with the MFT, along with some other workholding options....

A post with a 20x19 mm smooth section at the top would fit MFT holes nicely. If that part was preceded by a threaded shaft twice as long, and you included some kind of "quick-nut" it would be very useful and versatile.

To make it even more versatile add a few threaded holes of a couple of sizes to the top plate for ataching other shop-made jigs.

Hi -

Exactly what we've done....(shaft). A few other odds and ends too.... as well as dogs. We'll have a kit in a nice black and gold systainer ("Veritainer???  ;D ) sometime next month... just waiting on the liners ... tools are basically done....

At the same time, we'll release the components individually....

(Duplicate post from other thread....)

OK - here's a "spy" shot....

Can't answer any pricing questions just yet, and those aren't the real dogs in the case (3D printouts)...

Rob,

I imagine there is a fair amount of drool on a few keyboards right now, including mine. You can sign Sal up for set # 0001...

Nice kit!

But I hope the parts will be available ala carte as well.

Hi -

Yes - individual components, as well as the kits. I just happen to have the kit in my office for write-up development. As soon as we price the kit, we'll release the individual parts, so people can make an educated choice.

Even the Veritas surface clamp had to be re-worked slightly to be compatible with the thinner MFT surface, in addition to the 20mm hole.

The regular bench hold-downs *may* work on an MFT, but I'd really have concerns about hole distortion - so would avoid using them.

Really very nice.  Please post a heads-up announcement on FOG when this is ready for sale.  Esp. in the "Veritainer" variety--gotta keep the accessories organized and such!

I'm so game for this!  Since Sal hasn't responded, I'll take #0001!

Wow Sal, Bob was quick to toss you under the bus...  [big grin]

I have a pair of the Bessey Lever Clamps (really good) and I just use two Festool lever clamps, fed from underneath the MFT3, to hold them in place - works really well.

I can take a photograph if needed.

That's great Rob.  Now that you are carrying Festool, I was wondering if we would see some Veritas add-ons for Festool tools.

I'm looking forward to seeing a"Veritainer" and it's contents.
