Magnets in drills and Centrotec

Do the magnets in your drills and bit holders keep coming out of the holders?  It is driving me batty.

This is not an unheard problem for some.  Many have solved the issue by using superglue to glue the magnets in place.  I write this not as an excuse for the manufacturer but rather as a possible solution to get things done.

I glued mine in with some epoxy to make sure I'd never have the problem again. Bit pathetic given the price that they can't be bothered to do it in the factory!

I didn't even realise there was supposed to be a magnet in the drills. Seems all mine have come out! Not had an issue in the actual bit holders though.

Is the magnet you refer to in the bit holder or are we talking about in the drill? I have a CXS and don't believe there is a magnet in the drill itself? I don't tend to put bits directly in the 1/4 shaft though I tend to use the centrotec chuck with either a centrotec bit or a centrotec bit holder.

Is there a magnet in the 1/4 drive?

The drill comes with a magnet in the hex drive.

Very late to the party, but it's driving me batty as well as my CXS with no longer hold a bit or extender within the drill chank. I decided to bypass Festool repair and found an online dealer of small neodymium discs and plan to install it using tjbnwi's VHB technique below.

Noticed this on my brand new TXS this week. Spotted it too late though after I'd put the bit in another holder, passing the magnet to that holder. Now I've got two magnets in one holder, not tried getting it back out yet but I can see that being fun

A stronger (that the one in the back) -  a N45 (or better) - stick magnet (long enough so it dosn't also vanish) should do the trick.

Again, this is not the bit extender.  This is within the drill shank directly on the drill.  Without this magnet, the bit extenders, much less regular bits will not stay in the shank.
