Made this for a wedding gift. Mahogany and quarter-sawn Bubinga veneered top.

let's hope the bride and groom have (or at least develop) an appreciation for your high caliber of craftsmanship and good design. May they live happily ever after!

Nice feeling of suspended energi between the top and bottom, interesting patchwork of wood around the edge of the top and bottom. A very good design nicely executed..

Wonderful!  Do you have any build pics or at least process description of how you achieved the staggered end grain effect on the top and bottom?

No pics. I basically used segmented techniques with base and top with by gluing 18-10 degree segments into a ring, gluing the rings, and attaching to a plywood base attached to faceplate.
The top is quilted Bubinga veneer.  Legs are mahogany laminated with maple veneer in between both stability and looks. This was a vanity project and I knew they would love it.
Thanks for the replies!!

Top looks good so do the legs. I don't think the pic does it justice. You turned the top on a lathe?

I used a circle cutting jig thing with a bushing that comes on and off depending on you are cutting the interior diameter or the outer diameter. The inner circle got the veneer and the outer circle is the segmented ring frame, that was attached to plywood and turned on the Powermatic 3520b
lathe.
