Down here it is becoming difficult to readily purchase 'lambs tongue' # skirting boards of greater width than 140mm. At this width they are plain or pre-painted finger-jointed boards in Radiata Pine,
Recently I used the following process to make a wider skirting board. I realise that some of you, say working in restoration, may already have your own variations.
Timber - 140X18X2700mm pine skirting board and 70x19X2700mm DAR pine.
Festools - Domino 500, TS55 (Panther blade), Rail, and RO150.
. check edges are square,
. align bottom edge of skirting board with an edge of the DAR and mark Domino guide lines
at 200mm spacings,
. at width setting 2, cut slots for 4mm Dominos per guideline,
. glue and clamp, alternating clamps top and underneath board,
. sand front with 80 grit,
. run through Thicknesser with back of board facing blades (due to thicker DAR),
. reduce width to 200mm with rail and tracksaw,
. re-sand front face through to 180 grit,
. paint.

# called 'lambs tongue' here because profile resembles a drooping lamb's tongue.
