Hi,

I have a basically new Makita 1019L saw, which works well for the most part, but I have noticed that I have been getting tearout on the left side of the blade. The right side is perfectly clean, but the left side is a bit rough. Any idea what could be causing this? I have never seen this one-sided tearout before.

Thanks in advance,

Nik

[unsure]  I see this all the time on my miter saws.

The left side ( the money side) is the one with the clean edge and the right one (the waste)  is always less purdy.

I believe the 1019 stock blade is a 40t and it's pretty good for a free (included) blade; but 40t isn't the best for crosscuts and it's certainly not a uber quality 40t like a ridge carbide or forrest blade.

Oddly, in my case it's the left side that's bad. The right side is perfect.

It's much worse when using the slider than just plunging straight down, for some reason.

Just check that the blade is square to the bed and not bevelled slightly. Also, is the blade in good order. As resin build up on one side could be a possibility.
