Makita 118" guide rail cheap

Is this the same extrusion as Festool?

Yes and no.  The extrusion is the same, except, the Makita rail has  extra lip on the outside to prevent their saw from tipping when cutting a bevel.  This extra doesn't interfere with the Festool saws being used.  It should be noted that the lip prevents the Festool parallel guides from fitting on the Makita rail (without modifying the rail).  If you're up north and want a 118" rail this is a no brainer.

Ima have to get it. I might have to cut it and get two rails out of it for added convenience as rarely need to rip sheets.

I decided to get one of the 118" rails.  I think the precision parallel guides will work with it as is. If not  I will trim the tab with a table saw or  router and edge guide. There is only one of the 118 and one 55 still available on the HD website.
