I just bought a Makita 36 volt track saw package. $499 for the saw 4-5ah batteries charger and a 55” guide rail in two Makita systainers. This saw performs wonderfully. I used it on my new cutting station top that was made with the UJK Parf Guide system (another great tool). The accuracy and cut quality right out of the box were great. The saw also has plenty of power. First cut I straight line ripped a piece of 8/4 hard maple with no trouble what so ever. It also left a perfect glue line rip. The next cut was a crosscut in the same material. It left such a smooth surface on the end grain that no sanding was required. I was so impressed I decided to test it further by cutting chip prone 1/4” luan plywood. The cut was perfect on the rail side and had very little chip out on the off cut. Then on to the ultimate test, melamine. I had a section of melamine shelving that I ripped about 4 feet long. The cut line was so crisp and sharp that I cut my hand on the edge. I did do a backwards score cut with the melamine. I am very pleased with this saw and the accuracy and quality of cut it leaves. This will definitely help my workflow and efficiency. BTW all cuts were made with the stock blade. 165mm 55 tooth with 1.6mm kerf. Makita has developed a new line of blades (1.6mm kerf) for their battery operated saws to increase run time. I know this is a Festool forum and I’m not taking anything away from the tsc55. I’m just pointing out my opinion of a great alternative.

I've been using the Makita cordless track saw for a few months. The saw is well balanced with the batteries installed. Just an all around awesome track saw. I've had a TS75 for 5 years or so. The Makita is just a joy to use.

RNEMTP,

If you want to use the saw totally portable with no vac, then look at getting the Mafell dust bag. It's a perfect press fit for the Makita. The dust bag stays clear of the tracks, light weight, easy to open and dump.

You can get it at Timberwolf Tools. Product #206921 Mafell Dust Bag.https://www.timberwolftools.com/mt55-kss50-dust-bag

While I don’t have the track saw , I have the Makita double 18v worm drive saw , and love it.
I am building a new home with out Power (generator ) and the saw has been great.
Lasts all day with fresh batteries.
Btw in the 2 months or so having the saw , I haven’t used my corded saw at all .

Thanks for the info about the dust bag. Makita also has a dust bag they sell as an accessory. I don’t have one yet, been using the vac but I’ll likely pick one up just in case.

What was the weight distribution like with two batteries?
The weight is well balanced. I waxed the base plate and the guide rail and the saw glides super smooth.

I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat if they were able to offer a 110V Ac to  36V DC adapter.  I just hate the idea of complete and total dependence on batteries.  It's the one thing that keeps me from getting into any of the systems really seriously.

Would've been nice if you can just use one 18V battery like the TSC 55 .You can actually use one 15V on the TSC 55 .
