Makita BS180DZ 0.3 inch (9 mm) Rechargeable Belt Sander

I just ordered this from Amazon Japan .. it's a bit hit and miss when it comes to saving money. This was $AU294 (including shipping) compared to $AU412 locally. Some tools are more expensive but this saved almost 30%.

I'm not sure if buying Makita from Amazon Japan translates into a benefit elsewhere on the planet but it may be worth a look.

... and for those guessing, no my welding skills don't seem to be improving!

I've got the corded version of this and it's pretty awesome, but on a job I ran it reasonably aggressively for about 30 mins straight and quite a bit of smoke came out, but trying it again a week or so later still seems to run okay. It did always run quite hot. Good tool apart from that worry.

EEK! I think I'd fire up the compressor if I wanted to go that hard  [eek]

Probably something I'd never experience these days anyway .. going flat out for 30 minutes with anything would result in me overheating and conking out.

Love this little sander. Used it to back bevel some small parts. Used the lowest speed and just let the sander stand on its base/battery for the ultimate in fine feathering. (Too much pressure and the sander moved away from the work)

Think this is the only belt file/sander that has an available dust port?
