Makita Guide Rails

I know that a few members have successfully used the Makita guide rails with their TS55 or TS75 saws, but are the Makita rails also compatible with all other Festool rail accessories? I was thinking specifically of the LR-32 plate and the OF 1400 Rail Guide.

Just wanted to know if the inside overhang on the upwards facing T-track posed a problem for Festool accessories. Can it be used with connectors with another Festool rail?

At $189 CDN the 3m/118" Makita rail is a downright bargain, and it would be great if it worked with all my Festool gear. They've also got a 3m rail bag for $50 CDN, which Festool sadly doesn't even offer.

I'm not sure if they are the same rail but i know that if you want to use the LR32 hole drilling accessory you need a fence with the holes and i don't think that Makita rails have those holes.

Whoops, I'm not sure how that slipped my mind. Maybe I was thinking ahead to having it CNC drilled to use as an LR32 rail.

Are the other guide rail accessories a go though?

The Makita rail profile is slightly different, there is this extra "tab" in the left side of the U-profile in the left. For example the kick-back prevention thing in TS75 will not fi there, as this extra tab can't fit in there.

I should really take photo of the profiles side by side to highlight this... It's a sort of a frequently asked question, really.

I'm not sure but I believe the Festool parallel guides don't fit the Makita rails.

Huh? Do you mean the anti-kickback feature of the Makita saw? Aren't the baseplates of the TS55 and TS75 the same? (except for length)

This post on JLC shows the two tracks, the makita is on top and the festool on the bottom.  You can see on the makita the outside channel has a little aluminum lip.  This lip is for an anti tip feature on the makita saw.  Any festool accessory that mounts on the top, over that outside part probably will not work.  You could probably modify the accessory some to get it to work fine.
