makita/non festool cordless tools in sys system?

Over here in The Netherlands Makita also sells most of their more upmarket products in so called M-Boxes. These basicly are rebranded Tanos systainers with a Makita logo on them. Therefore there are also inlays for most Makita tools available in systainers.

Perhaps it's worth looking into for you to see if you can get those inlays shipped to the US?

Mine is still a work i progress so no pics yet  [tongue]. I got a sys 5 and in the bottom layer i have the LXT cordless saw/ jigsaw 2 batteries and a charger. The upper layer has my impact/ a new DHP458  ( with batteries attached, and 2 more batteries.
The bottom layer is in foam, but i'm not happy with it so will order some kaizen foam for both layers next weekend and finish it off.  [big grin]

Fitted my hitachi drilln and impact 2 batteries and a charger in a sys2 works like a charm

The other one is my electricians kit with everything in it you will ever need its a tanos sys3 with lid insert its the one I use the most cause im actually an electrician

I use a 4 drawer Sortainer.  Two guns and 4-5 batteries fit in the big drawer, and the 3 upper drawers have plenty of space for bits, tips, etc.  One thing to note - the belt clips need to be removed to fit in the drawer.  I never use them, so it wasn't an issue for me.  I do keep them in one of the small drawers just in case I need them for some reason.

I don't carry the charger with me, usually.  I have 3 chargers set up in my shop, and one in the van on an inverter.  With 4 charged batteries in the drawer, I've never needed to charge on an install.  If an emergency arises, I can always just go to the van and bring that one inside.

I've thought about cutting some foam to pad the guns a bit, but I am way rougher on them than any drawer could ever be!

I also have a Sys Maxi outfitted with simple plywood dividers for the rest.  The 6" circ saw, the planer, grinder, and reciprocating saw all fit, along with a couple batteries.  A charger fits on top of the grinder if I decide to toss it in.  I just got the Makita cordless multi-tool and LOVE IT.  I need to find a way to fit that in the kit, as well...

so how does the extra big sys fit into the system? i mean, you probably don't use it as a stackable so its in essence a suitcase.

the big one (Sys Maxi) is exactly twice the footprint of a regular Sys or T-Loc.  You can stack Sys's double wide on the Maxi, but in order to lock on, the latches need to face the center, so you can't really open them in the stack.

If I need to roll a big stack of Sys's into a site, I have a plywood dolly I cut just for the Sys Maxi.  It's just a plywood slab with cutouts for the Sys Maxi feet to nest in.  I can then stack a dozen Sys's on top ands roll in.  But, I mostly just use it in "suitcase" mode.

Hello All

I know I am blowing the dust off an old thread here.  [big grin]

I have the Makita 10.8V Drill and Impact driver that I use for fitting out. It is currently in a Makita box but it doesn't fit in with the Systainer theme. Has anybody managed to get all the bits into a Sys2? I think that would be the correct size.

My Makitas are all in Systainer-compatible Makpacs:

They come in 4 sizes (1 to 4), clip beneath T-Locs in the same way that Systainer Classics do. Over here Makita have introduced a full range of blow moulded inserts for the cordless tools and quite a few of the corded ones as well (including the SP6000 plunge/rail saw). They have now started to embelish the range with stuff like roll boards, tool totes:

They are most certainly not made by Tanos and are a completely different design

We had them here, too for about a year or possibly less before Makita decided they'd go their own way and manufacture (presumably) in-house

This pic was a test run in a systainer 2 , I've since bought a tanos sys 2 with an attic lid added a foam pad to the bottom and yellow tloc for good measure...
Trying to cut something out in kaizan foam wouldn't have worked very well for this arrangement
