Anyone running the Makita Plunge saw on the Festool rails? I noticed when I ran the new Makita saw on the old rails I have, it cut the rubber strip to almost the rail. My old Festool TS55 left about a 1/16” of rubber strip but this really snugged it tight to the rail. Not sure this is all bad but wondered if anyone else experienced this?

It depends how your saw is calibrated. On the Makita as well as TS55 you can adjust the distance of the blade from the rail.

Festool calibrates all their saws to the exact same position - so if you buy new saws, all will have the same line of cut.

Makita calibration tends to be all over the place, so best is to calibrate it before first use by aligning to whatever blade position you want to use.

I should have been smart enough to do that. Did not run it too far but will have to put a new rubber strip on and recalibrate it.  [huh]

Not for sure if this will work since I am relatively new to Festool, but can you peel off the rubber strip, move it out, and press it back on so you can cut a new edge?  Not for sure if it will stay, but does not cost you anything to try.

yep you can.  stick a 2mil packer on the hard edge and re stick the splinter guard

cant really go much more than 1 time tho

makita splinter guards are much better and about half the price.

worth trying to find some imho

Yea, I second ditching the festool splinter guard and putting on the Makita.  My makita SG are still on 3 years later with no sign of peeling off.  Festool SG's last me maybe 6 months if Im lucky before they start falling off  [mad]
