Makita track saw dust bag solution

About a year and a half ago I got the Makita X2 track saw. I have been very happy with it and it has met all my expectations. My only hang up is that sometimes when I need to make a quick cut outside and my vacuum is inside there is not a dust bag for the saw.

About six months ago I also got the Makita X2 miter saw. Now I cannot even begin to explain my disappointment that the dust bag included with the miter saw does not fit on the tracks saw. Why tool companies cannot seem to figure out a dust port plan is beyond me. But anyway.

The opening on the track saw and the opening on the dust bag are 1.5 inches. Is there any sort of adapter to bridge those two openings? Any help appreciated thank you

I understand that the Mafell dust bag fits, but I would prefer a cheap solution with a bag I already have.

I have a 36 volt bluetooth plunge saw, that I usually hook up to the 36 volt extractor, or a Festool CTM.
I also have a circular saw, and went to hook it up to the 36 volt extractor but, it didn’t fit.
You can buy adaptors but, I have found making them up from plastic plumbing pipe to work very well, and cost effective. My plunge saw and circular saw can now use a dust bag. I recently made a new drill press table, and fence with dust extraction. Again plumbing pipe was used, and it’s as effective as any other table/fence I’ve seen.

When you get to the plumbing section look for some Fernco fittings or other brand flexible drain adapter couplings. You'll find them for adapting dishwashers to disposals, for CI pipe to PVC, and all other combinations.

Here's alist of them at Lowes, just as an example of what's available. The soft grey ones work very well for adapting various vac hoses to tools. They usually come with a couple hose clamps which you may or may nor need depending on your application.

For the track saw I just closed my eyes and ordered the Mafell dust bag. I use it all the time. It is very efficient - almost as good as a vac but w/o a tether holding you down. (wonder if the Kreg bag fits)

For the cordless SCMS you need a vac. What bothers me is the weird sizes the manufacturers choose for dust ports. This Makita slider not only has a strange size but there is also a stiffening rib about 1/4" from the end. I resorted to using one of those Rockler silicon adapters but I still need to do something to keep the hose on. I'm surprised (when the hose stays attached) how efficient the DC is on this saw with a vac.

Thanks for that! Perfect. About $18-22 bucks online. Isn’t bad at all. A little ugly haha but that’s fine.

Yes that two port dust collection on the miter saw works well but falls out constantly. I have to hang the hose above the saw to make sure it doesn’t pull out.

Do you think that mafell bag makes the DC work better? Or is the tracksaw just efficient at kicking out the port? When I use it with no bag it kicks out a lot of dust but it does seem to all be coming out the port..  Do you cover the saw arbor hole too? I’ve heard that helps
