Hello friends!  I've finally finished up the large project that I've spent the last few months of my life on!  Here's some photos of the project!  Feel free to ask questions!

All of the photos in this post with the exception of the last 3 are a complete 360 of the master closet.  The room was about 14'x12'.  One side of the closet is his, the other is hers and the middle section is shared.  The island is a dual sided island with drawers on both sides.  I lined the 4 top drawers with Haefele self adhesive felt.  It was almost impossible to cut and stick into the drawer bottom, so I attached the felt to pieces of plywood and set that into the drawer...fit like a charm!

These last 3 photos are part of the master bathroom.  I posted a few of these shots in the thread "what about the other 7,000 members".

These photos are the completed photos.  The left vanity is his with the dual drawers.  Hers is on the right...I used two stainless steel containers that will house her blowdryer and curling iron.

Enjoy!

I did attach these as full size...perhaps I should've done thumbnails?  If need be, I can change that...just let me know!

Here are a few more photos that are from the same project!

This is a desk-ish build in the kitchen. It fits the space very nicely and is a convenient spot for their mail, etc right when they enter from the garage!

There are two if these in the eye dormers of the master bedroom. The lower drawer is 27" deep and the two upper drawers are 24" deep.

This was the fireplace in the master bedroom before...

Thanks for looking!

Love the closet design. As it happens, I am having three walk ins and a laundry room redone in September by a pro company. You've given me some additional ideas to adjust our current plans!  Great stuff!! Only thing that didn't really appeal to me was the chandelier in the closet. Seems out of place, but to each, his own! [big grin]

Looks great! Congratulations!
I like the design with the exception of the blind corner.
What kind of wood did you use and how was it finished? Did you make the drawers, they look good.
Tim

Thanks for the replies guys!  This whole project was through a pair of designers. They designed all of these pieces...I gave my input where necessary and provided all of the technical info that they required. They're still kinda green in the biz so I'm happy to have the work that they're feeding me!

Tim, regarding your questions, the corner blind corners were iffy...they saw some houzz photo and decided that once it was loaded with clothes it would pretty much disappear. At the end of the day, there's that much extra storage which is always a plus!

For the master closet, I used all birch ply, 3/4 carcasses and 1/2" backers and the face frames are all poplar. For the island and vanities, they are all cherry.

The finish on the closet is BM Aura paint and the cherry is finished with Sherwin Williams Sherwood precat lacquer.

I did not build the drawers, I always order my drawers through a local cabinet hardware co who in turn gets them from a company in Pennsylvania. For the price, I could never compete!  The 15 drawers in the master closet (5/8 natural maple, dove tailed, notched and bored for blum & prefin) cost about $1100. Not bad as far as I'm concerned!  And that was with a sped up delivery time which is about a 15 or 20% upcharge!

Very nice work, but a taller ladder might be helpful  [big grin] Kidding aside, that corner fireplace/entertainment center concept may find it's way into a project here.

Haha I know!  It doesn't help that I'm short to begin with!  That photo was taken on the last day...cleaning people were scrubbing the house down and I was supposed to go down to hang a few hooks for the designers...when I got there it was "can you do this, can you mount the tv, etc". Needless to say I wasn't vertically prepared!

Beautiful work, Bob!  What kind of stain did you use on the cherry?

Thanks Jim!  The stain was a match that was supposed to be a match to the deep deep espresso brownish/black. It's really almost black...you can kinda see a tinge of purple in the right light too.  It was done through Sherwin Wiliiams and is part of their Sherwood system. It was custom matched though.

Looks great!  I'm planning on finishing a vanity I'm building next the same color.  Can you walk me through the finish schedule?  And if you have color codes handy, I'd be much obliged.

Sherwin Williams provided only the stain and lacquer topcoat. No sealer was required. We applied two coats of the stain and three topcoats of the lacquer topcoat. We sanded in between top coats but not between stain and topcoat. Done!  It was really a smooth process. I do not have any color codes handy but would imagine that with assistance from a professional paint store, they would/should have a direction as to the "deep espresso" color!

Also for haha's, I had some general finishes waterborne stain (black) kicking around and two coated some scrap cherry and almost got an identical color. I prefer more water based products and those are available at woodcraft!
