maximum hose length

I'd like to attach a OF 1400 EQ router to a CT 22 E dust extractor using a 50 MM hose 4M long (starting at the CT 22) connected to a 36MM hose 3.5M long.

The support knowledgebase indicates that hoses longer than 23 feet should not be used. The above combination is 24.6 feet long. Will this be a problem?

Similar question: if I use a 27 MM hose attached to a TS 55 saw (instead of the 36 MM hose attached to the router), will this be a problem?

You simply run the risk of reduced suction at lengths of more than 23 feet.  There may be some members here that can offer their experience with longer hose lengths. I think the topic has been discussed before.  Someone was wanting to run a hose into an attic if memory serves.

And, I think most TS owners use a 27mm hose.  I usually do and it works perfectly fine.  The advantage of the 36mm hose comes into play when you are producing large quantities of dust or large chips (as with planing).

I always use the 36mm hose with the planer.  It also works much better with the Kapex  & last night i used it on the OF1400 for routering stair stringers.  I used to always use the 27mm hose for stairs but was prone to blocking but the 36mm hose made a huge difference.  The 27mm hose is ample for the TS55.

With sanders, not much difference.  I have had two 36's and one 27 hooked together before and didn't notice much difference with a sander on top of a ladder.

I would suggest:

1. keeping the hose as straight as possible.

2. keeping the filter clean.

3. empty the vacuum often.

4. make sure there is plenty of room behind the blower port.

I have a 5m 36mm diameter A/S hose strung on a Boom Arm, and the end of that hose is connected directly into an Oneida Dust Deputy mini-cyclone and the outlet of the cyclone is connected to my CT 22 vacuum machine with the ~6ft length of 50mm A/S hose supplied with the Boom Arm.  Sometimes I connect another length of hose to this setup to facilitate reaching throughout the floor of my garage/shop with Festool's floor sweeping wand and nozzle.  Yes, the vacuum is reduced, but it still has enough to do the job.

I've also hooked up even longer runs of ~36mm hose (approximately 30 ft total) when sucking old mineral wool insulation out of my attic with my Fein Turbo II vacuum, which I purchased before my CT 22 and Dust Deputy set up.  I was pleasantly surprised how well that worked.  But that long hose run included the drop from the attic to the vacuum machine, essentially the reverse of what the CT 22 setup has to do.

From Festool tech support:

    The 23 foot length limit just applies to the 27mm hose.
    That distance can increase when combined with the 36 or 50mm hoses.
