A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of seeing Sir Paul at Met Stadium, NJ, excellent seats. Played over 2 1/2 hours - no intermissions. A mix of Beatles, Wings and solo work, his voice is outstanding, his band tight. McCartney is historical - the other half of the most famous songwriting pair in history and the second man of four in the most influential, popular and best selling group of all time.

Just got back from seeing Bruce at the same stadium, nosebleed section though. Played 4 hours, a good many from his first album, which was fine with me.Same thing, outstanding voice and a simply incredible band, Clarence Clemons (RIP) son Jake just wails that sax as good as his old man. But I still don't get Van Zandt at all. I'm going to say this Springsteen concert was not only the best from Bruce, but I think it's the best concert I have ever seen. Talk about a guy giving everything he's got to his audience.

Not only that, they performed with minimal glitz, both literally had some fireworks - but they were appropriate for the couple of songs. Two musical legends with such a motherlode of music so deep, either could have given another concert the next night and and not have had to repeat as single song.
Anybody on the fence about seeing either of these artists, get off that fence and go; bring your kids and show them how it's done.

The thing that really sucks about living in Oz is the lack of this calibre of entertainment visiting our shores with any frequency [sad]

I'm totally envious [embarassed]

When I was teaching I'd give the kids lyric sheets to Born in the USA and have them sing along.  It was priceless to see their faces as we worked through the song and then had a discussion about the song.  They, like too many in general, have no idea what that song is about.  Springsteen is not only a incredibly talented performer but he's an excellent song writer.

And, just to mention, McCartney is 74 and Springsteen is 66. Absolutely incredible.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Paul twice now, most recently just a few months ago.  I took my daughter (5 years old at the time) to the more recent show and she was absolutely blown away.  My wife and I are big Beatles fans and I'm a big James Bond fan, so Live and Let Die is one of my daughter's favorite songs.  The look on her face when the pyrotechnics started during Live and Let Die is one I hope to never forget -- sheer delight and amazement.

went to Liverpool  about a month ago, did the beatles tour, saw Pauls house and school  and where he met John and George etc...Paul was the most normal one of the 4 ......Amazing

Lol.  It's always hilarious when -- as has happened numerous times in the decades since the song's release -- some nativist, flag-pin wearing politician uses the song at one of their rallies as a signifier of their uber-patriotism.  Obviously too thick to appreciate the irony.
