I just picked up three boards of mesquite totaling about 11 bf from my local Woodcraft dealer.  Looks beautiful and they had more which I may go for.  Not sure yet what to do with it yet though.  Almost got a hernia carrying it out to my car and into my basement workshop.  I knew it was supposed to be heavy but wow!

Any tips out there for working and finishing.  Too beautiful to stain.

Thanks guys!

If all else fails, you can use it in your grill to smoke steaks.  Let's see, a nice Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon might do well...

Seen Norm using it once, think he oiled it ?  One thing a remember about it was all the defects like dead knots n stuff which he raked out.  He then mixed epoxy with graphite dust to make a jet black filler.  He poured it in & sanded when hard.  Gave a stunning effect when oiled.

It may wind up as firewood by the time I get through applying my master woodworking skills to it.  At least I will be getting dual use from it.
