Finally got around to putting this together, been meaning to for a while now.

I used a 110v solenoid for tank release (left side). My Buddy 3d Printed the recess and the fan grills.

I also tried using a small fan temperature sensor, but more trouble that it's worth, so the fans just run when the power is just plugged in.

I'm loving the idea of putting this sort of stuff in systainers!

Now I can justify the syspack/trolley combo I bought on special last month!

Very cool!

I used to carry the Rolair AIRSTAK but since they don't offer it any more so I've wondered what kind of DIY project would work well.  You have a very snazzy looking set up!

I've looked at various air compressors from Harbor Freight and then some portable ones used for 4x4 and off roading.

Yeah, I think the tiny compressor from all of em (metabo hpt, harbor freight, Makita) are the same device, different colors.

Well done! What do the various color lights indicate?

Doug

White - power is plugged in, which powers up the fans, pressure gauge, and power to the solenoid for tank draining.

Green - Air compressor is turned on

Yellow - Switch for tank draining (solenoid) is on, meaning the tank drain is open

Great work.

I have the same compressor and ever since seeing this thread (https://www.festoolownersgroup.com/festool-and-tanos-systainers/senco-pc1010n-systainer-iv-sm-loaf-pan-luxor-re25-organizational-bliss/) have been tempted to put mine into a systainer.

It's sure to reduce the pain of carrying a compressor around if it's already in your stack...and hopefully lessen the temptation to buy a set of cordless nailers. At least that's my thinking.

Does it work out that much cheaper compared to just buying something ready-made like the Schneider Sysmaster SYM 150-8-6 or any of the 101 different copies? (ABAC multibox, Stier SKT 160-8-6, etc)

I think it works out to availability or even awareness of availability.  In the USA, Rolair used to sell their version.  They don't any more.  I still get customers asking if there is an air compressor in a systainer.  So some demand, maybe not a huge market, but some.

If there are other version available in the USA, then I'd be up for carrying it on Systainer Store, but so far none of my conversations have panned out on sourcing a USA version.  If others are selling one, then I think it may be awareness.

DIYing your own can be fun.  And some may see it as the only option if they aren't aware of an alternative.

Strange. I would think the market in the USA would be bigger for it than in Europe, judging by the American love for nail guns. But Systainers might be more common place in Europe.

But even without Systainer, I still prefer the low-noise type of compressor. What a joy compared to the insane 90 dB monsters.

I always wanted something like this, but ever since the advent of good cordless nailers, I barely use my compressor more than filling tires up with air.

If you haven't reached out to Jamie Sikorsky at Cadex , it might be worth it to talk to him about his saga with the Cadex compressor.  Senco UK had a 110v version of their sys compressor for a while too.  I would think anyone willing enough to put in a large enough order could have these made with any label / color systainer they fancied form the Italian company that churns these out.

Nope; don't forget your time is precious too. It was probably minimal savings TBH.

BUT, it was kind of fun, and got to learn a few things.

Coen - none of the vendors you've listed make a sys compressor that runs on 120v electricity.  Senco had one in the UK, but I'm pretty sure it was discontinued too.

That's kinda an essential selling point for someone in North America where this site originates.
