When I was looking around I couldn't find any decent reviews of them so bottled it.

I did however pick up a fairly un-portable Hitachi 12" saw which I like very much. 3yr warranty nowadays with them too (I know Metabo are also 3yrs).

I've got the254 plus. Heavy , need a huge space behind them , 90° detent sloppy ( though you can lock it with the red handle at the side ) , dust extraction quite good , very smooth slide , good stock blade, once set up very accurate . would I buy it again ? No .

I think that's their old model.

The new ones have much different styling (and are cheaper?).

The plus is the newer one and is a dual compound saw , the cheaper ones are single compound.

induction motor on the plus ones.

Kgs254 plus with induction motor is 32.5 kg . kgs254 non induction motor 24 kg. That's one heavy motor !
Mine is the " lighter " one but it's very bulky .

I fancy a smaller saw for site use. Used to have elu ps174 nice size.
