I have been using a lot of salvaged doors and lumber lately. I think it is time to invest in a metal detector. Anybody have one that they like or dislike?
Unless you are using lumber thicker than a couple of inches you might look at the cheaper Little Wizard. I use mine to find hidden fasteners all the time. For less than $25 it isn't much of a risk.
whites meter detectors is the best U.S. brand, mine lab is the best, more money,Whites has a little probe for about 125,its used in your hole to try and pin point, it has about 8-12 iinches penetration
I have a Garrett Super Scanner (very similar to the one used in airports). It works really well. So well, in fact, I can't even use it in the hand my watch is on!
