Can anyone suggest a reasonable source for good quality HSS METRIC brad point drill bits, preferably a complete set ?

I have a set of bits just like the one that Tom says has been discontinued.  They are good quality bits, the only problem being that there are not enough different sizes.

One can hope that, it the set really is being discontinued, it will be replaced by a set that provides more sizes.

More sizes? Of course not. Since Festool's motto with Centrotec seems to be "Less is better', the set mentioned above is now replaced by this 5 piece set I just bought. They seem to be of good quality, only thing I don't like is that they are shorter than normal drill bits of the same size.

Obdor, if you don't have a Festool drill with Centrotec, look at the Bosch drills, they are of excellent quality too, especially if you choose for their Robust line.  If you want absolute top bits then you should try to find Famag drills, very expensive but very good. Here you can find them online.

What about this?
AHHHHH!  Why isn't this stuff available in NA.  I know we've almost beat this horse to death but as others have mentioned here, I've been holding off on getting good quality bits until the wealth of centrotec stuff shows  up on this side of the pond.  Certainly this stuff can't be held up by UL.

I am not speaking for Festool - I don't know why.  I suspect that with non UL items, it may have to do with minimum quantities to order and predicted sales.  Every manufacturer and retailer - especially today - has to pay close attention to inventory and inventory turnover.  Add to that equation might also be the fact that metric doesn't sell as well here.  But there is hope.

For a discussion recently held, for those who haven't seen the thread Imperial Bits Coming to the US?

Tom, I didn't know this set was discontinued. Any ideas why?

I don't know why, I can only speculate that they are working on some new offerings that haven't come together yet. They still have the individual bits from the set.

We stock the Famag bits in our stores in both metric and imperial.  Very good quality and a large selection of sizes including some of the .5mm incriments.

It would be nice to have a large selection of Centrotec bits to choose from as well.  I know economics comes into play when companies decide which products to produce, but without having a complete line of accessories for the Festool drills it can become an obstacle for some people.
