Used my MFK 700 for the first time to route a rabbet for a cabinet back and was surprised by the amount of dust chips flying.    I used the
Parallel Edge Guide (Nbr 495182) and connected the CT22 hose to the clear dust shroud on the edge guide.  Looked like most of the chips were flying out from between the bottom of router base and the top of the edge guide dust shroud.

Is that normal, or am I using it incorrectly.

Thx

Fred

MFK700 router with Parallel guides?  The parallel guides and the parallel guide extensions are for use with the saws.  I think you mistyped something here and have a question about the MFK 700 itself.

Were you using the MFK700 in vertical or horizontal mode?  Horizontal mode would be great for rabbets.  Dust control would be excellent in horizontal mode.  Make sure you have the little metal "gate" open, or you won't get any collection in certain configurations.

Dust control in vertical mode would be more difficult, but still should be good

It is strange that you mentioned this.  On Friday night I was routing using my 1400 and the edge guide and was throwing chips all over the floor.  I noticed in Allan's systainer that there was this type of accessory.  I used his and no more flying chips.  If it was included with the edge guide when I purchased it years ago I didn't get one.  At least they are available separately as replacement parts.
