My apprentice/trainee has seen me use the MFK700, with the zero-degree base, countless times. It is essentially permanently set-up horizontally, for flush trimming hardwood shelf edges. He knew that it had a vertical base, to make it more like a typical laminate trimmer, but was completely blown away by mounting the motor vertically, in the horizontal base.
We had an odd edge, that would not allow clearance for the regular horizontal configuration. The edge was facing upward, with no way to access it from the side. Vertical flush trimming, yet another useful feature, of a somewhat misunderstood tool.
