MFT/3 and dovetail jigs

Fellow FOGers,

I borrowed a friend's PC4210 dovetail jig, and I'm wondering if the MFT/3 is stable
enough to use as a base for it. Several online guides I've read suggest that anything
other than a traditional (heavy!) workbench will lead to sub-optimal results.

Anyone out there know the straight story?

I have the way older version o that jig and set it up and used it yesterday on my MFT3. I mounted it to a piece of ply and clamped it to the side and it worked fine.

I use the MFT3 all the time with a 24" Leigh jig. No problems what so ever, plus clamping the jig down is a breeze.

I had a PC dovetail jig and used it with the MFT without problems from an MFT perspective.  I now have the Akeda jig which is use with the MFT without any problems.  Mine was a fairly old PC jig and not what they currently are now.

I have a PC 4212 dovetail jig and I clamped it to the MFT/3. I clamped it at the short side so that gives max stability.

In general, the MFT/3 provides a stable base for most any hand held power tool operation.  Where they tend to fall short is using them for hand tool operations such a using bench planes, hand saws, mortise chisels, etc. -- unless secured to a wall.
