MFT 3 braces

I purchased mine a few months ago. When I went to a dealer recently he had two tables set up. Identical except that one had cross braces attached to the horizontal part of the legs and the other end to the underside of the main railing.  They are obviously an add on.  He was not able to tell me anything about them unfortunately. So my question is, is there something about stability or structural integrity that we should know about?  There has to be a reason these things are there.

Hi Peter,

The cross-members add stability to the table to help with wracking.  I find them to be a real help in making the overall rigidity of the MFT/3 much better.  Others are happy with the table as is and find it plenty rigid out of the box.  For me I think that they are a must-have.  I did a review on them a couple of years ago under tool reviews.  I will find the link and post it.  Here is the link:

I like the stability the braces add.

Down side is, there is one more step to get the legs folded for transport.

I got them on both of my MFTs. They make them more stable especially when they are connected together

I thought they were just gimmicky profit centers for Festool until I checked them out on an MFT. They definitely add some good stability to the table. I ended up getting them and don't regret it. If you use your MFT for mostly power tool work, I don't think they are all that important. If you do a fair amount of hand work on your MFT, then they are a good add-on.
