mft 3 getting wobbly

I have had an MFT 3 table for a few months now and I find it great in general, though about twice the cost it should be. If they were £200 I would have bought a couple or three.
The table has helped my back no end just because it is the right height.

I use the table for restoring windows, routing Ts55 etc. I do use it on site normally folding it up once or twice a week. Often leaving it set up Monday to Friday.

The table has started to get more unstable lately, I thought that I had just not tightened up the handles at the top of the legs properly but they were tight. I carefully rocked the table to see where the movement was happening. It appears to me that there is a play in the part where the round steel leg fits into the hinged part. This part looks like it is factory pressed on so I cannot see how to tighten it up.

My questions are:

Does this happen often ?
Is this a warranty issue ?
Can it be sorted out ?
Will it get worse ?

I have not been abusing the table in any way. In fact I have been quite careful with it due to the cost.

Warranty replacement or repair depends on Festool UK and purchase date I'd guess.

When you get it fixed, I would look at adding the cross braces and maybe 2 sets, Cross brace

I would not consider the MFT a replacement for a large solid work bench. There are many who build their own workbench with the MFT like top for a number of reasons.

I'm waiting on one and I'm with you on the price not only that but you have to by cross braces to make it stable for another £70!!! At the very least the braces should be a standard item.

That said for cross cutting panels there's nothing comparable.

I recently bought the MFT/3 and agree it is terrific.  Also agree that the cross braces are necessary for stability, although the table is usable without them, it is much more solid with the braces. After a couple of weeks, I added a second pair of braces, and the table is nearly rock solid, but still has some movement if you push hard.  I plan to add a shelf across the bottom, which should eliminate almost all movement.  So after your repair, I recommend adding two set of braces if you want the least movement.  The braces should be included in the price, but oh well....

Looks like the braces are a necessity rather than an option.

I will have to get some sorted out. Do they make it a pain to fold up and down though or can you leave them in place on one end ?

Still have to look into getting my existing wobble sorted first though.

Should I contact the retailer or festool direct?
