Hey There

Well after taking some good advice on here I went ahead and sealed my MDF MFT Top before I went to work this morning, however In rushing out to work I left a wet cloth that I had been cleaning up with on top of the MFT only to find out tonight that I've damaged the MDF, the swelling is only 6" diameter but is right near where the guide rail goes....

Yes I know what a dummy [embarassed]

I can only think of letting it dry out fully sanding it and re-sealing, just wondered if anyone had any better Ideas?

Thanks

Rich

Flip the top.  [wink]

Just four threaded inserts that hold it in place.

It would be a shame to waste one side of the top. How bad is it? Unless it's really bad, I would try sanding it lightly first, checking it's flatness periodically. What's the worst that could happen? It doesn't work and you have to flip the top?

When it has dried out, you could plane it with a sharp hand plane. If you sand it, you could dish the surface. Alternatively, rotate it 180 degrees horizontally so that the offending area is not under the guide rail, but you are not wasting a whole side.

I would try to just let it dry thoroughly for a day or two. Unless that rag was dripping wet, it shouldn't really be a problem.
I have left wet sponges on mine many times. After it has dried I can hardly see where the swelling was.

Thanks for the advice !

It wasn't that bad once dried but I explained to the Mrs, In order to fix it I would have to buy the RO150 and that's exactly what I did ;D

I just used a P320 pad and smoothed It off, like a babies bum now haha

Cheers
