MFT/3 Profile image and measurements

Tom (geary126) asked if anyone had a measured drawing of the MFT/3 profile in another thread.

I've seen some images in posts and in some of the online documents before, but they never looked "right" and I could never figure out the extrusion profile.

I had a couple of MFT KAPEX tables delivered today, so I took one to pieces to scan and measure the profile. Forgive me that the ruler wasn't quite in the right place, but it was only meant to represent a scale. I don't have fantastically accurate measuring tools, but I think the attached is fairly representative (the extrusions themselves don't seem to be incredibly accurate) having used a digital vernier.

Possibly a little misleading as we're talking at 0.01mm resolution, and could be more to do with my cheap digital vernier than anything, but measuring the same profile elements at different parts of the rail produced slightly different measurements over the length. Certainly nothing to be worried about, and wouldn't have an effect on the 0.1mm resolution measurements in the diagram.

Hope this clarifies what I meant in the original observation.

.01mm measurement readings are the best you should ever expect to get with calipers. That is .0004". Your measurements rounded  to .1mm will prove to be very useful to anyone wanting to build around that information. As you have probably already read, you have made several guys quite happy.

Can anyone tell me the measurements of the MFT3 leg bases (Festool #472860) and post pictures of one?
I´m particularly interested in a view from below as I am actually considering which is the best method to connect them to a wooden base. Most of all I´d like to make massive wooden legs which fit accurately in these leg bases.
Is the tabletop only fixed on them with a screw in each corner? I´m wondering if this is enough on a 2 meters mft...

I believe you can. If you go to the Festool Spareparts Catalog, also know as ekat, you can find for them. Go to the top of the forum page and there is a drop down box with Festool links.

The length of the rails would be same as the MFT ones here in the us. In Europe they have longer lengths.

As far as I know the profiles are sold individually in case someone damages one.  The 2 refers to how many are needed for the table.

Longer profiles are certainly available in the UK

I purchased 2 two metre lengths about 18 months ago at a cost of £160 for the pair.

They will eventually be part of the ultimate (at least for me) MFT
