MFT/3 Protractor Problems , Will Not Lock

Hi, 
        I have 2 Protractors on my MFT/3 VL ext setup and both now wont lock to the guide, very frustration, the guide locking knob just keep turning with virtually no lock to the guide . I took one of them apart however, i did not see anything that would tell me the problem. im stuck with hot glue to keep the protractor head against the guide,

The fence locking knob should move the two hoogs that go into the T-slot in and out (it's a simple excenter), clamping the fence on the way in.

That both won't work is strange and hints user error (as it's unlikely to have the both fail at the same time, they're quite sturdy), to exclude this scenario please post a picture or two as these might help to diagnose the problem.
