Using the CMS protractor mounted to the side of the MFT it's straightforward cutting strips from 1 to 200mm - sizes the MFT/3 will not normally cut.

When I first posted this there was replies concerning kickback - it doesn't and it's every bit as safe and accurate as using the MFT in the usual fashion.

I added a piece of leftover sticky-backed measuring tape to the angle unit arm to allow me to cut pieces to the size that's required.

I've been making cuts like this since I first got my MFT. Do it the same way you do, never had an issue in any way.

If there is any concern about binding or kickback, install the flag stop towards the lift end of the guide rail so the board to be cut only contacts one point, this leaves the pivot end of the board free to shift.

I like this idea. I have a couple of protractors lying around that need a job

Neat idea and something I'm now going to try out.

Where did you get the stick on scales on the mft fence and how do you have that set up in relation to the blade? Is it more of a rough guide?

Cheers

The stick on measurement scales were from Axminster and cost about £8.50. This was a surplus piece that I stuck to the side of the CMS angle unit arm along with an aliminium pointer. Sighting down from above I'd say it's accurate to 1/3 of a mm.

I notice you cut the Imperial inch scale off; Kreg do a L-R (KMS7729) and R-L (KMS7728) 3.65m Self Adhesive tape that is metric only. You'll find it's a little cheaper too.

Just a note though; the plastic tapes aren't that accurate and can deviate quite a bit over their length. If you want better accuracy, use a steel tape instead. Dieter Schmid sells steel adhesive backed tapes - https://www.fine-tools.com/mass1.html
