I think I posted this idea a while back but I keep finding more uses for the arms, including yesterday when I needed to clamp some thin stock so I could form an edge profile by hand. They are just chunks of 8020 but I keep finding more uses for them. These clamps provided an absolute death-grip and only needed to touch about 3/16 of the stock I was working on.

The 8020 is clamped to the MFT from below so there are no obstructions on top.

Newbie Here ! (So 'watch' out for the stupid question)  [smile]

Can you tell me which 8020 you used ?

A website "link" would be the best.

What is the length ?

It looks to be about 24" or about 0.6 m (no guarantee that my inches to meters is correct.

Remember, I was educated in the Peoples Republic of California !  [smile]

Howdy and welcome to the FOG.

The specific extrusion I used is the 80/20 15 series ultra light smooth (ULS) you can get on eBay at:

http://stores.ebay.com/8020-Inc-Garage-Sale/15-Series-Lite-/_i.html?_nkw=uls&submit=Search&_fsub=6482274&_sid=129537225

The other option is 40 series (40MM) either from 80/20 or Misumi:

Both 15 series (1.5") or 40 series work with the Festool clamps, you should just pick one and stick with it since you will probably find yourself using re-configuring this stuff frequently as your needs change. 40 series is available from both vendors, Misumi does not stock the inch profiles. I find that a length around 36" - 40" if the most all-around useful but that is personal preference. Most of the hardware is interchangeable.

Have fun!

Very cool!  How are you clamping underneath?  Any pics?  Thanks!

Carriage bolt run thru a dogs, with a knob. You can also feed your Festool clamps from below into the t-slot.

I was looking at the "basic" 2020 system and I have price this out @ $ 5.30 per meter.

In the US, on 06/17/2012,,, Father's Day....

That does seem like a good value.

Let try add the price of plastic ends, and stuff like that all "adds: to this "Basic" price.

Can someone please to see if I am reading the catalog correctly ?
