I had a problem with the MFT guide rail whacking me in the head or ruining work while it was stored in a vertical position and for whatever reason it came crashing down.  Here's how I fixed it:

Child proof door latch, piece of 1/2" ply, 1/4" Hex bolt and a wingnut.

Here it is mounted to the back of the MFT holding the rail.

MarkF,
Excellent!  Good thinking.

I've had the guide rail crash down on me a few times, mostly late at night when I'm working later than I should.

Mark,

That is great!  I have them all over the Kitchen cuz of the grand kid...lemme see if I can find an extra one.

Excellent!   I've got several MFT Guide Rail bumps.   (Usually it smacks me right on the top of my head.

Looks expensive though.  I'll bet that cost all of $2.   ;D

Thanks for a great "easy" solution.

Dan.

Thanks for the great tip.

I knew having grandchildren would be useful for something other than hugs.

My solution to the guide-falling-on-my-head problem is a super magnet "latch".  It latches automatically when I lift, and unlatches when I pull the guide.

This shows the guide latched in the upright position by the magnet which grab the guide support.

Looks good!
Mine is still in use every weekend and a couple evenings during the week.  The hook pulled the splinterstrip away from the far end of the sawguide so it works better to put the device on the other side of the guide.

Just to clarify what you see in Lloyd's (dogutsukawu) photos above where he uses a magnet to hold his rail in the upright position, the photos also show his version of the TS55 Garage.

I have had that guide rail fall and hit me more then once  [embarassed]
