I'm planning to build a MFT style assembly/work table.  Very similar to my MFT3 but much larger (3 plates) and a bit sturdier.  Started studying up on aluminum extrusions (8020), and ran across this comment on another woodworking thread (written in 2005):

"You can also buy the table profile from Festool. Its not too bad in price. A pair of 79" rails cost $130. Part number 488555."

If this is true then my problem is solved.  Does this part still exist, and is it really designed to hold MFT plates in a larger table format?

That part number is for the older MFT 800/1080 (think of it as the MFT/2).

You can contact our service department to order 472863, which is the longer side extrusion for the MFT/3, $58.83 for a pair.

I think in Europe, you can get longer extrusions in the style of the MFT/3, but they're not available here.
