Nice looking trolley! Do the festool clamps fitrouterthe aluminium profiles like they do on the mft?

Hi there
Great idea and I am looking to buy a similar setup to help me clamp boards square to the ends so I can run a dovetail with the router for sliding dovetail panels.

Do the festool clamps fit into this extrusion fine?

All the best

Yes - the Festool clamps fit into the 80/20 1515 (1.5") and 4040 (40mm) profiles.

Cheers mucker!

How much is that p/m (£ if possible)?

Been looking at

http://www.motedis.co.uk/shop/Slot-profiles/Profile-40-I-Type-slot-8/Profile-40x40L-I-Type-slot-8::999999.html

at the moment and KJN too. Will likely go with whoever is faster as I'm in a bit of a tight spot time wise (own fault as per).

Price does have a factor too though.

All the best

That profile is nearly identical to the 80/20 40/40. No idea the cost over there, it runs about $7/foot here, or 15£/meter for you US/Imperial challenged blokes.  [big grin]

Backatcha friend!  [poke]

When you assembled it did you give it a rock about without those corners braces?

Do they make much difference ie worth the extra dosh?

Cheers

How do you slide the clamp into the slot with the ends of the aluminum profile blocked?

You don't.  [big grin]

There are ways to avoid blocking the profile ends using brackets @ corners instead of butt joints. Some folks have also widened a 2-3" portion of the slot so the clamps can be fed in from the center of the extrusion. Here's some info on how I modify corner brackets:

Bit the bullet and went for a similar albeit more barebones version of the above.

Was looking at Motedis for a while as they are cheaper but rang KJN to see how quick they could get it to me (which was quicker) and they were so helpful on the phone I went with them. They even emailed me to double check a part I ordered to make sure I was happy to tap the M8 bolts into the ends so happy to have gone with them.

Will be looking at reeming the T slot a little larger as you said to accommodate the clamps as I saw on a video recently some guy did with a gopro.

Will let you know how it goes when the parts arrive on Wednesday. Now just to put the client off for a few more days . . .

All the best
