I was just browsing the SketchUp 3Dwarehouse, and discovered that a user by the name of 'ehuss' has added a model of the MFT3.

I don't know who this user is, or if they're a member on here, but unfortunately there is no way to contact them through Google. I've added the model tomy 'Festool Power Tools' collection.

I'd appreciate it if a member who owns an MFT3 and uses SketchUp regularly could check the model over & see if it's accurate, and that all the relevant dimensions are correct.

Thanks!

It looks good to me although I think the adjustable foot is missing?

Richard.

Basically, I want to know if it's an accurate representation.

Personally, I want to get an MFT3 at some point, and I'm intending building a moveable sysport/base that the MFT will sit on, with the legs either folded away or removed entirely. If the model is accurate in terms of it's basic dimensions and the corner castings/feet, then I can use it to design the base, and even build the base before I get the MFT.

I've looked at the model in more detail now, and the section of the extrusion is very detailed. I can't see someone going to that much trouble on details that won't be seen, and then getting something major wrong. But you never know. After I posted, I checked the FOG member list, and there is a registered member by the name of 'ehuss', so I've PM'd them assuming it's the same person.

Hi!  That's my model.  Yea, I didn't include the adjustable foot (nice eye!).  There's also a lot of detail in the corner pieces I kinda glossed over.  I was mainly just having fun, I like modeling things in SketchUp.  For the most part it should be dimensionally accurate.  I was planning on doing the same thing as you (building a movable base) and was going to use this for dimensioning.  I haven't gotten around to designing my base, yet, because I decided to move to a new, larger shop space, so I've been busy with that.

Let me know if you have any questions.  I have two MFT/3's, so I can check if there are any appreciable variances.

Nice to see you've done your 1st post!

It's a bit late since you've been a member since February, but [welcome]

Take it I dont need to check now lol!  You found your man!
