Micro Systainer 3 Domino Bit Case

What 3rd party cutters? Are there more sizez??

That's what I was wondering? The only other make I'm aware of are the CMT ones, and I ordered a number of them and they are absolutely identical to the Festool ones. Which they need to be otherwise they just won't work out right anyway.

I always leave one cutter in the DF500, and so in reality, my original cutter case can hold an "extra" cutter.

5mm to 8mm dominoes are my most used tenons, esp. the 6mm. The 5mm cutter is more likely to break than the 6mm or 8mm cutter, so I have a spare 5mm cutter (seen in the 6mm cutter slot in the photo).

The case is large enough that if I want to, I can easily use a new foam material and reconfigure it to hold 6 cutters in the case.

That looks very neat! But could you not fit one more cutter in there? Maybe with the 4mm cutters at either side?

Just how many cutters does one need for a df500 ?  [eek]

4-5-6-8-10 so five.

Plus spares makes ten.

Who needs a spare of 8 and 10?

Anyone who breaks these two cutters on a constant basis needs to relearn how to use the DF500 properly! [tongue]

If they start to get dull, that is the time to buy the replacements. For average users, that should be once every ten years or longer?

I use my 8mm to death and only replaced it after doing a stair job; it was used for the front edge of the stairs. Some of the mortises hit staples, brads, etc. Bit still worked fine, but felt it was compromised. That stair bit now sits in a box to be used if needed or if more sketchy mortises are needed
