BTW, I suspect GF being hardnosed about not using their stuff over shellac means that their stuff is formulated with alcohol, which will
dissolve shellac and possibly expose whatever is under it to the GF stuff directly.
I was trying out some GF stuff over shellac a while back and got a muddy mess. Most things have no trouble with shellac, but ever now and then... I guess that's why we try it out on scrap first.
