Midi extractor max connected load

Hello,

I have been looking into the max connected load of the festool midi 110v extractors. I have seen some conflicting wattages in the specs on various websites and catalogues.

On your own websites and tool instruction booklets max load for 110v is 500w. Can this tool then be comnected up to a TS55r saw as that tool's motor rating is 1200w? And would it work also with a 1600w chopsaw?

Cant quite understand it or get my head around it.

Many thanks,

Rich

Rich , I went thru this back when I bought mine in 2007 . I was shocked to see a sticker on the outlet saying max load 500w. I spoke to festool who said to peel the sticker off and ignore it. I did and I've never had a problem. I've run my 2300w dewalt router and my big Makita chopsaw on it with no problems. Only time I had a problem was when the midi was connected to a long extension lead , then it cut out once, I just connected directly to the transformer and it worked no problem.

Joiner1979 do you have a kapex? If so is it 110v and do you ever connect it to your Hoover and the kapex to the Hoover at the same time? What size transformer do you use?

I have a 2002 model CT( still going strong!) and happened to be looking at the rating plate on it yesterday. It said that the motor power was 1200watt and the max. connected load was 3000 watt. I must admit, mine is a 240 volt CT, dont know if this helps.

I have a 110v Kapex connected to a Midi, it works fine. I use a 3.3Kva transformer.

No I use a Makita ls1013 to be honest I don't use my midi with it often but I run big routers with it no problem about 2300w. I use a 3.3kva tranny.

Do you not find that your kapex bogs down on 3.3Kva transformer? Mine bogs down to the point where it can barely cut a bit a red deal skirting? My rep told me I need to use a 5Kva transformer with them.

No, it's always worked fine. With a smaller transformer it has been a bit useless. A 3.3Kva transformer is heavy enough, I would not want to haul around anything bigger.

I plug my kapex and I also plug my of2200 in to my mini no problems what so ever I used to use a 3kva trany. I never though it lacked power both cut perfectly fine that trany stop working after 10 years of use so I just go a 4kva trany and I must admit the kapex and of2200 seem to run a little bit better especially on hard woods.      Luke

Many thanks for all the replies guys, and to festool for the personal message!

My only decision now is, which extractor to get? The midi or the mini?

In terms of performance which is better or more worthwhile? Obviously the midi is better? but its going to be used as a workshop and site extractor for my tools so is a midi too big to carry around to site?

Midi is fine I use mine in houses and sometimes on sites with no problems. I tend to carry it into jobs don't think the wheels are up to rough ground.

Hi
they are exactly the same apart from the size of the tub and bag I have the mini, 3 of them currently. its just down to how often you need to empty it.

I find the size of the mini to be more usefull than the slightly larger capacity of the midi...
