Had to chop about 4ft of lead of of my 110v midi last week as it started only working intermittently... traced it back to a dodgy neutral wire that seemed to be falling apart within the cable with only half the strands intact... thought it could just be where i had caught it in a door or something but the problem has since returned in two more places. The cable just seems to be breaking up inside for no reason so took it back to my tool shop i got it from who spoke to festool who have now said to send it back to them as they replace to first lead for free, vac is only a year old don't understand why the cable seems to just be falling apart within. going to be like loosing my right arm now for god knows how long as i use the vac everyday. has anyone else come across this?

I have 4 CT's not one issue with the cord. North American versions.

possibly a uk cord issue then.. or maybe just me  [unsure]

I sometimes work with "wire walkers", people who are happy to walk all over any wires lying about the place. Flex from a machine, twin and earth whilst installing, whatever. I hate that. Catch them near my Mig line and they'll know about it.

Work with any wire walkers?

quite possibly mate.. but i would like to think the cable could withstand a bit of foot traffic over it after all it is a site tool. i have a henry thats been beaten and bruised for 6 years before getting the midi and has never missed a beat. also have 110 leads that have been in service a lot longer then the vac which get driven over and all sorts and are still going strong. had a new cable put on my 1/2 router a while back that is extremely supple and can be bent every which way.. maybe its just because its a fairly heavy gauge cable. do you curl the cord up into the top of the vac? doesn't seem the most elegant form of storage as its quite  a tight bend each time it goes round the handle moulding.

I use the old cord storage on my midi that came off the ct26 when I put the boom arm on that.

everybody should google search"over&under cable winding" your wires will be much happier,so will your wallet.this subject has way too many facets to discuss with my thumbs. Anyone wishing to talk on the phone can p.m. me with their #

From about a month old my midi (240v) would lose power intermittently, found if I wiggled the power cord it would work again. Sent it back to festool and they put a new lead on it. Still find maybe once a month it just loses power for a couple of seconds, tool I'm using stops and I hrear extractor stop but about 2 seconds later it all starts again like nothing had happened. Should send it in again but would miss it too much.
