Anyone else have a problem cutting up their knuckles and top of hand when removing the hose. I switch bsck and forth between my 27, 36 and CMS hoses multiple times a day and my knuckles are taking a beating. Sure i can pay close attention and not wack my knuckles but its a PITA if you ask me.

Second problem is the "Y" connector for the duel hoses on the CMS does mot fit in past the hose cady thing. They must sell an extender. I rigged something but i hate rigged shit and would much rather hsve an extender. I am actially gonna put the Y addapter on the vac and let it live there. I hsve acfeeling i will still need a height extender?

Second is all that dam cord. Anyone chop it and make is just a nub and use the appropiate extension cord length? Im not soley shop based but mostly shop based so i dont really need 10 feet of clrd that does nothing but get in the way...

Thoughts?

Im ordering a 36 tonight or first thing in the am so some of the needless swapping of hoses will subside but it will mot go away as my midi will now replace the shop vac hooked to my capex. The midi on the kapex will also get a y adapter as each vac will live at either side of my shop alleviating the headache of some of the constant musical hoses AND CORDS!

I found my life got much simpler when I popped for an extra Y adapter and two blast gates. I can run both 27 and 36 mm hoses at the same time and just flick the gate.

Regarding the midi, I've found you need an extension as well to use the Y directly off the vac. I use the one Festool makes to keep the anti-static property, but it's much longer than it needs to be for this purpose. If I'm doing more routing and planing I hook up my dust deputy and run the Y adapter directly off the cyclone, negating the need for the extension tube.
Hope this helps.

I basically made the extension Alex linked, using parts available here. 36mm hose about 2' long, two hose ends and the coupler. All AS. I run though hose through the front of the garage, connections are easier, and it tucks into the garage when not in use. The 36mm hose did make that bend without kinking. I keep a sys 3 on top with vac attachments and a locking extension cord, because I got sick of that cord and pigtailed it. I recommend the locking extension cord, it helps when dragging the vac around. I usually Velcro strap whatever hose I want that day to the garage through the power cord slot. Works for me nearly every day.

A friend chopped his cord down to a little pigtail with a quick connector to the rest of the cord.  It allows him to stack the vac and other sustainer boxes easily and also allows him to plug it into the cord and use it as before.  Not a terrible idea but it means he still has to roll around with an extension cord all the time.  Im going to chop a few feet off my cord to make mobility better but not nearly as much as he did.

Well i solved my problem.

At least halfway that is.....

I purchased a  CT36 and pretty much dedicated the Midi to my Kapex. I also chopped a 36mm antistatic hose so the vacuum end of the hose now goes straight into the vac as appose to at 90% angle.

When i bring it on sight, "and i will ill" be back to square one :(

Long term the plug gets pigtailed and the hose gets a extension to get it up out of the hose garage. The bloody knuckles really do suck after a long day working.

Just throwing this stuff out as it seems Festool does pay attention to what its users are saying and i wondered if i am picky or if my problems are reasonable..

My only complaint on my midi is that the hose garage is really cramped for space, with the hose and power cable.

Another user here mentioned he grabbed a part off of the ekatz(sp?) system.  If you look under the parts for the 26, theres a cord wrap mount and screws (parts 25&26 on the first pic I think) that will screw into the back, and you can wrap the cord onto that.

I don't have that yet - but it's on my "soon to order" list.  Just another idea.

It is possible but you have to make the adaptation yourself, there are no screw holes in the Midi for this.

Huh, I looked at the back of mine and there are 2 holes right where that thing should mount.  I wonder what those are really supposed to be for.  I'll have to see if I can get a measurement of that part I mentioned, specifically screw spacing, and compare to my midi.

Either way I wish there was just a teeny bit more space for the cords.  Would be nice to have my plugit cord permanently attached to the vac hose as well, and that sure as heck aint happening now.

Interesting, my older 2006 model Mini doesn't have those holes. Can you perhaps share a picture? I measured the size between the screws on my CT 26's cord wrap, it's 125 millimeter (just under 5 inch).

I took the hose wrap off a CT26 and fitted it to a CT Mini, the holes were slightly out of line but it fitted without having to modify the holes.

Bear in mind, mine is a MiDi, not a mini.

Calipers put those holes at ~125mm on center, maybe a little less.

I wonder what those are really intended for.  Hmm.

I think the only difference between the two is the bin capacity, Ill check the dims tomorrow for you on a mini.
As to the use of the holes I can only assume Festool are waiting for the right moment to release a hose wrap retailing at £100  [eek]

They're exactly the same except for the storage bin.

The one for the CT26 only costs 7,50.

But it seems a logical assumption they're for a cord wrap.

True but if they make one where the holes are slightly different it becomes a special and they could charge £100 knowing some festoolians will pay it

So based on above posts, if the hole spacing on the cord wrap is 125mm and the hole spacing on the back of the midi is 125mm, then it should work?  Anybody try it?  Definitely interested in a better way to tame that damn cord.....

I'm after this cord wrap aswell will def help out a lot! Has anybody got the product code for it I can't seem to find the item anywhere  [blink]

the cord wrap for the CT26 about ($22) from Festool to put on my CT  Midi. The holes line up, but the there is a slight gap because the shape of the machines are just slightly different I guess. It works great. I like that I don't have to take my cord completely out to use my Vacuum. Cable holder part #496727. I think I just used a couple of #10 screws to attach. Take care when attaching not to strip or crack anything. They have screws, but they were kind of pricey for a couple of screws.
