I bought this saw at home depot it came with the ridged stand for 550.00 US . the price was right it got good marks in some wood mags. I have ben using the saw for 10 mounths and found it has some slop in the arber the moter sounds like its coming apart and very loud. when moving saw back to 90 from a bevel it seems to be slightly different every time it is slight but not being abel to trust it stinks. Tryed to cut 3'' round oak handrail prefinished with new tynru blade with no luck had to use my 15'' hitiche. is this just my saw. sorry about my spelling

The picture is of a SCMS CMS, not a chop saw.  I'm guessing that is what he is talking about however because I've never seen a chop saw sell for 500ish dollars.
I own that SCMS and have had no problems, its actually quite good in my experience. Should be able to handle 3" no problem.

What you on about?!?!?!  That is a chop saw.  That pictures is the New Milwaukee Mitre saw

I use this saw every single day from about 2 weeks after they came out never one issue. Cuts perfect.

Yes it is loud, just like the TS 75. It sounds weird like that because of the way the motor is designed, like the TS 75 it sounds almost broken. Possibly you don't trust the saw because the way it sounds? It does sound like bearings the bearings are crunchy, but the saw performs flawlessly.

You must have gotten a lemon because I beat on my tools and use them for work and this is saw is dead on.  A 3" rail? There should be no issue what so ever.

A lot of people around here call a sliding miter saw a chop box or miter box whether the saw slides or not. Some just call it a slider as well.

that is the saw when i cut the 3 '' rail it never made a smouth straight cut even with a very good blade .i suspect play on the arber i might have to send it in .i like the way it works  the lights  are filling with saw dust mostly from mdf . home depot sold the saw with free stand last january. i think it never moved for them and they wanted to get them out the door. they went for 554.00 i thought it was a score. it realy needs a lazer and vac adaptor any thoughts.

thanks for the help mark

Just to add my two cents in; I currently have one of these saws and found it to be quite accurate. I am familiar with the noise this saw makes when the motor is not under load and it is the same as my TS75.
I was first introduced to this technology through the Snap-On tool manufacturer about 10 years ago and once you get used to the weird start up noise the tools work without issue.
As far as your accuracy problem I wonder if there is a loose adjustment somewhere, I have not experienced this myself. Good luck, I hope you figure it out.

SCMS = Sliding Compound Miter Saw.  A "chop saw" that can do miter and bevel cuts is technically called a CMS, not a chop saw.  The Milwaukee is a SCMS and to denote it as a simple chop saw suggests it cannot not do bevel and miter cuts simultaneously, it can.

Come on JMB!

You should know better!  Chop saw > Chop stick > Chop suey

Chop Chop Chap!

[tongue]

You're right the picture is not the SCMS, but I believe that is what the OP has based on the price he paid. The picture is the CMS I was mistaken to call that a SCMS. I fixed my OP.

I don't need the laser, I would rather have a light, but they sell a vac adapter for 20.00 I have it. I would give up the laser for the accurate digital miter in a heart beat and I did.  :)

LoL I should sorry!  If it chops wood its chop saw!!!

this is a sliding dual bevel miter  saw (SDMS) 12" not a scms or cms.  Does Milwaukee have and sell a vacum attachment or is it an after market item?

I've had the Milwaukee slider since they came out -- it's extremely accurate with no problems -- I would return your lemon & get a good one.
