Milwaukee 18 gage brad nailer (battery powered) problem.

I have a Milwaukee 18 gage brad nailer (battery powered) for about 2 years and it has been reliable.

I went to use it last night.  The battery showed about half charge—enough to drive nails.

I turned it on.  Selected single nail at a time, by pulling trigger.

The nailer makes a buzzing sound, like it can’t quite decide whether to fire a nail or not. No nail gets fired.  The selector light toggles back and forth between single nail per pull and repeat nails by pressing down.

I loaded fresh nails.  Still the same.

The battery is on the charger.  I will repeat the sequence with a fully charged battery.  Does anyone know what is going on?

Thanks,

Packard

Well the good news is that nailer probably has a 3 year or 5 year warranty.  [cool]

I’ll check on that.  It is one of my favorite nailers.

I have not had much luck with nailers.  These battery powered ones seemed better all around.

I've had that issue with my Ryobi nailer; it doesn't like a half charged battery.  A full charge has always resolved the issue.
Milwaukee isn't in the budget. [sad]

I have all pneumatic Bostitch nailers and they've worked perfectly for over 25 years, love the reliability, they just work every time I pull the trigger.  [big grin]

I also have 2 Paslodes that are absolutely horrific, I've had issues with their batteries and gas cylinders since day one...junk...they've irritated me for over 10 years now. [mad] It gets to the point that I usually drag out the hoses and the Bostitch's before I take a chance and haul out the Paslodes.

I plan on replacing the Paslodes with a couple of Milwaukee's, that's the reason I was familiar with the warranty period, I just wanted to wait for the 2nd Gen Milwaukee's after being burned on the Paslodes.

I'll add the my Porter Cable framing gun that is circa the mid-90's finally failed a year ago. Dewalt repaired it for $60 and it is good as new. Needed new seals and many were listed as not available or out of stock so I just mailed it in figuring they had the parts.
