Festool Products is offering a Centrotec driver bit set in the new clear-top Mini Systainer. I assume that other retailers also have it.

It looks like a good value, but what I don't understand is why it includes a Centrotec chuck. Do I really need another? It would make sense to me if it came with the adapter for other drills (496450), but this? Your thoughts?

If you are doing a job which requires changing bits a lot it is much quicker to swap chucks rather than change the bit in the chuck so best to have 2 or 3 centrotec chucks set up with the bits you are using.

It might not sound much quicker but removing the bit from the chuck means pulling back on the chuck one way and pulling the bit out the other way then repeat to insert the new one, it's a two hand job really.

To swap chucks you just pop it off and push the new one on.

That's my theory why they include an extra chuck anyway.

Man, would love it if they would just sell that insert! Have no interest in dumping the money into the Centrotec nonsense but would like to be able to use that insert to hold my Wera bits in a Mini Systainer.

Hi Ben,

I don't believe that insert will be available separate of the Limited Edition systainer, however, Festool does offer a "similar" insert that may work for sorting your bits.

499620 Multi Purpose Insert

Alternatively, if you don't already have a Mini Systainer to use, you can purchase the clear-lid version with the Multi Purpose Insert.

203821 Mini T Loc

Hope this helps!

why would you want an insert for a system you think is nonsense? It is my understanding that the Festool bits ect. are made by wiha and wera. Simply re branded.

That's funny, considering the inserts were available for the old-style Minis. Some of these marketing decisions are a mystery.

Now that you mention it, I do that already with the chucks I have.  [tongue]

Have someone that can CNC one for you  [big grin]. Multiple layers of ply. It comes a bit heavier then a plastic insert but it will not break ever  [wink]

I make them out of solid surface. I don't think people really want heavy duty inserts. I am going to making some like the festool insert bins, but with magnetic  base out of solid surface, and color code them for metric ,standard and so on.

Just heard from BobM, mines on the way along with the mini sustainer w insert. I already have a couple of mini's with that insert and another style. They do come in handy
