My Mini motor burned out for a second time yesterday.  Since it cost me almost as much as a new vacuum to ship it and have it repaired by Festool the first time it crapped out, I am going with a new Fein Turbo II Hepa vacuum this time.  Wish me luck.

that really sucks.

having been into mine to replace the flimsy top plastic, you could easily buy and replace the parts at home.

is there something about your line of work / trade that would put additional load on these vacs? do you fill the bags quickly? etc...

I was using it to collect dust from a DeWalt plunge router (A very nice machine, I have about ten routers), and the vacuum crapped out but the router continued to run, so I didn't really take notice until the cloud of dust overtook me.  What happened was the plastic tube from the router got clogged at the angle (about 80 degrees I'd guess), and I didn't notice it in time.  I assume the vacuum motor overheated, but really?  On a machine that costs as much as all Festools do, you would think there would be some overload protection to prevent this kind of thing, wouldn't you?

I thought motor cooling air was separate from the intake but in recent conversations I'm starting to wonder. Milwaukee has a nice new vac I'm after.

No luck needed, I have three of them and they are almost bulletproof.
