Mirka Deros vs ETS EC

Since these sanders come up somewhat regularly, I thought this new comparison I found on YT was relevant;


There's a ton of things wrong with it but it's still interesting. Feature wise a few things are omitted; the Festool has "hose detection" and the Mirka has a vibration sensor that you can read with a Bluetooth phone. But I don't think either of those are deal breakers for anyone and it was interesting to see performance like swirl mark comparisons.

this is a bit of a waste of everyone's time.

a head to head of the Deros 650 5mm stroke vs the Festool ETS EC 150 also in 5mm stroke would be worth watching.

I agree...let’s get the two sanders both with a 5 mm stroke and use some Abranet on both and then use the Festool net abrasives on both. That’s a comparison if you operate them at the same speed.

Why he chose to use Granat is another interesting issue because the dust evacuation will be different between the two pads. He's also using the old Festool pad so this is really apples & oranges.

Probably just another Utuber with an innocent attempt on promoting more traffic but with a flawed experimental approach.

I agree on all the flaws but what was interesting to me was that even with the Mirka using Granat and the Festool having a smaller stroke, the Mirka left fewer swirl marks. Very surprising since people call the 3mm ETS EC a finishing sander.

I have a Deros.  Pretty sure mine doesn’t have Bluetooth.  I emailed Mirka but never heard back from them.  I used it to sand epoxy joints in 1/4 Corian sheets bond d together for a bath and shower wall and window ledge.

I don't think Deros exists without bluetooth. There's a trick to turning it on by holding one or two of the buttons, I forgot which/how. It's completely uninteresting for home or small businesses.

This was really good for a laugh, no real info as with most comparisons of this type. So many issues with his method and setup. I guess he doesn't know the maple is extremely blotch prone and the swirl marks were completely unacceptable from both sanders. Both sanders have proven themselves as good tools with the main difference being accessories pads and whether you like the awkward paddle. Another YouTube wanker for sure.

Thanks, I wasn't aware. FWIW, in my opinion it's just a gimmick.
