I'll dogpile on here as well.  No one is "shouting", there's been no major breakdown, not even any insane ranting (yet).  I don't think anyone has any intent or even hopes of changing someone else's mind, but it is interesting to see what and how people think.  So long as things stay civil here, I think that this is interesting stuff...

Other than catching an inning or two of a ball game, I have had no time or need to watch television period. Unless of course Kiefer Sutherland dries out and the Fox show "24," returns. That was probably the last time I enjoyed watching television. I guess that makes me then sort of less than ordinary? How nice? Thanks for pointing that out Michael!

Per, Too often times I believe that us in the modern world look at these seventh century throwbacks and capitulate in order to make sense of a senseless situation. Basically, we blame ourselves foremost.

The Ms. Bardot I mentioned is the former actress/model/singer/etc., Bridget Bardot, who has come under attack by her own government five separate times for speaking her mind about how the Islamic immigrants coming to France have not been melting into the French society but are in fact taking France backwards and ruining the French culture by their importation of throwback traditions and cultures. For her actions of loyalty to France she was awarded hefty fines and a suspended prison sentence.

Rosa Parks was a black woman credited as being the mother of the civil rights movement in the US.

My tie of the two women is that each tried to make their countries stronger not weaker. The French government let Ms. Bardot and seemingly the rest of the French population down by stifling her critique of her government's will to be overthrown by immigrants.

I believe that dirtydeeds's remarks propagate these same ideals and has brought mislaid compassion to those who are undeserving.

From what I've read and heard about Rosa Parks she was a good Christian.
She would be more likely to identify with the immigrants than the privileged traditionalists.

I read about Ms. Bardot on my Yahoo news homepage. My recollection of Ms. Parks is from attending and actively participating in school. Imagine that? Thanks again for your vote of confidence Michael.

First I learn I'm less than ordinary but now having read this I'm having a hard time thinking I'm really missing out! What is a privileged traditionalist and how do I become one? I've heard about life, liberty and the persuit of happiness, but privileges in America? That's a new one to me.

I never implied you were "less than ordinary". I have a friend who doesn't own a TV by choice and neither he nor anyone I know would consider him less than ordinary. I think he is missing out on some important stuff though. Like the HBO series The Wire as the prime example.

I did imply that Ms. Bardot "is a privileged traditionalist". It's a simple recipe, you just have to be rich enough to do whatever you want and insist that everyone else also does what you want, in her case what people did before...

Take a few minutes on the great Gizoogle and do a search on French Colonialism as it relates

to Algeria, Syria, Lebanon, et al and French Nationality law.

That would be the same if I linked 335 Appalachian snake handlers with all the followers of Christ.

Now where in this equation Rosa Parks manages to get denigrated, beats me. that part of the record playing in my head

All men may be created equal but shortly after that some certainly should lose a few privileges due to poor sportsman like conduct if you know what I mean?
