Besides the Best Fence system and, of course, the Kapex UG cart, are there any other systems out there that can be added to an existing miter saw cart, or are themselves a cart with positive stop/long repetitive cut capacity?  I have a job coming up where I will be making, literally hundreds of repetitive cuts of varying lengths (up to 10 ft.), so something like this would really cut down on time.  I have a Bosch 12" CMS (non-glide) though, and not the Kapex.

One of the reasons why the UG cart is so neat is because it can take up minimal space in my home workshop, but then be easily expandable/transportable (all the stationary tools in my shop, excepting the lathe, have to be mobile due to space constraints).  That is also the attraction of the Best fence system, because I can easily remove it from something like the Bosch gravity cart when doing work at home, or quickly set it up to do cutting out in the driveway, which is where I do most of the cutting anyway.

I know there's the Ron Paulk miter stand, but that will take up too much space in my shop if I'm not using it, so I don't think it is an option -- and I'm super busy at the moment, so I'm not sure if I have the time to make my own.

I'm all for finding an excuse to buy the Kapex and UG stand, but that would stretch the budget pretty thin right now.

Probably not going to help, but I used my Kapex on a standard mitre saw stand and just added a supplementary fence with a Kreg quick stop attached to it. Thought it was really good until a couple of weeks ago when I got my UG cart and extensions and added my Kapex. What a combination! Easy to move, accurate quick set up and take down, I love it.

Sorry.

For 20 some years I have been using 2X2 aluminum angle fastened to 16' 2x12 extensions with 12' paste-on steel tapes to measure storefront framing (24' aluminum material).  For a stop I have a piece of 2x2 wood with a piece of angle that slips over the ruled stop on the extensions.  I actually removed the Makita chopsaw fence and attached the 2x2 angle to the saw.

Edward,

For several years, I have been using a Rousseau 2875XL miter saw cart. I have the extension attachment for both sides (I don't recall the number for this item).  The stand is heavy and solid and rolls around easily. There is a shelf underneath the platform for the saw and could fit a Midi.....although I usually have a CT26 off to the side.

Edward,

I meant to also say:  this stand is a bit less expensive than the UG setup, but isn't really portable (not easily), but I prefer it because I always like to have a bit of flat surface by a miter saw to be able to set down a cut list, tape measure, pencil, etc.

The Rousseau extensions are wide (compared to the UG), and that comes in handy in my fairly small shop because we will flip up the extensions and use them as a wide surface to store material that is being run through the router table, table saw, etc.

So this miter saw stand has some added utility, although it's not one to buy if you ever want to take it to a jobsite.

Thanks for the tip on the Rousseau.  Will check it out as a possible alternative.

Attached to the left wing is a Rousseau flip stop and I believe it can be attached to the  Rousseau cart-style stand. It can be set up to be a stop well beyond 10'.
