Miter saw station

Finished up my TWW Miter Station and it's now in use!  8 foot to the left of the blade, and 4 feet to the right.  Used Baltic birch (two 3/4" pieces sandwiched together) for the tops, with Mahogany trim around the tops and doors.  Walnut trim on the saw table, and solid Birch for the drawer fronts.  Two Incra tracks in the tops, one smaller track in the path of the table, another larger track with imperial measurements behind the fence.  Added a simple knob turned stop in the front small track, and a flag stop in the larger track behind the fence.  Ten 5" deep drawers and 3 low-wall pull out drawers for power tools behind each door.  Shop is already much less cluttered.

Rotex 150, Domino XL and the OF1400 got heavy use on this project.  As well as the Kapex itself.

Used up a ton of scrap laying around the shop, so that's a big bonus!  Now to organize everything and get it properly stowed.

Very nice! I’m noticing more and more people are not using a fence any longer... Really seems to make sense without it to free up workspace.
Also just curious. How does the CT SYS work for dust extraction on the saw? I wouldn’t think it would be powerful enough.

Thanks, guys!  As for the CT SYS, it does quite well.  Haven’t compared head to head with my CT mini, but the CT SYS is surprisingly powerful.  The cyclone on the mini doesn’t fit under the saw, so thought I’d try this.  I’ll do some tests and see how much difference there is.

The longer the auxiliary fence is the more likely it is that the stock won’t make contact with it. Or worse,  the more likely it is that the auxiliary fence will push bent stock so that it doesn’t make full contact with the miter saw fence.

Long fence are best used with flat straight stock.

Mark made a video where he explain why he use no-fence on his miter saw. I did the same on mine but made a mistake by installing the T-track on the positive side of the miter saw  [embarassed]
